In summer 2008 I spent a month and a half in Ladakh, a region part of Jammu- Kashmir in the north-east of India. A good deal of my stay was spent on trekking. One of the longest hikes in the region is the “Zanskar trek” which took me from Lamayuru in Ladakh to Darcha in the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh; twenty days surrounded by spectacular scenery in one of the most remote regions of the Indian Himalayas. Breathtaking – literally!
